If you are reading this then you are more than likely in the same place I was right before I decided it was time for a change! Unhealthy and overweight and feeling down and depressed from years of partying, drinking, late nights and mass consumption of junk food throughout my teens which had finally caught up with me until one day…I looked in the mirror and said “This is not who I am or who I want to be.”
Overweight with stretch marks to prove it, I had a reality check of who I had became and as to what I really looked like after years of being in denial believing I was just a solid build, though fit and healthy playing basketball just a few times a week.
Although the basics of extra exercise and better food choices did help, it wasn’t the only changes I had to make to have long lasting results. I had to change my whole lifestyle and mindset and started prioritising my health over old unhealthy habits.
My initial goal weight was reached with the biggest noticeable changes coming within the first 6-8 weeks and then in just short of a year I was happy with the overall results considering the amount of weight I had to lose (30kgs) and also while getting used to my new lifestyle choices, testing my willpower against temptation and peer pressure.
After having reached my goal weight though a mixture of resistance training, bodyweight exercises and cardio, there was still a way to go to reach a point where I was lean, strong and happy with how I looked and felt.
